SECCA Advocacy Statement Sets Out Path for Energy Transition in Perth’s South East

28 August 2025

The South East Corridor Councils Alliance (SECCA), representing the Cities of Armadale, Canning, Gosnells and the Town of Victoria Park, has released its advocacy statement setting out its vision to transform Perth’s South East Corridor into Western Australia’s most sustainable urban region.

The statement calls on Federal and State Governments, industry, and the community to work with SECCA to accelerate the clean energy transition and secure a resilient future for nearly 387,000 residents across the region. With a projected 33% population surge over the next two decades and strong community uptake of rooftop solar, the Corridor is well placed to lead the way.

SECCA’s three-point action plan focuses on:

  • Fast-tracking the electrification of council fleets and facilities, embedding energy efficiency and clean energy transition into urban planning and infrastructure.

  • Driving corridor-wide energy awareness and community engagement through education programs, forums, and local demonstration projects.

  • Advocating for the creation of a Low Carbon Alliance with the State Government, bringing together councils, businesses, universities, and community groups to deliver a shared roadmap for transition.

The Advocacy Statement positions SECCA at the forefront of WA’s sustainability agenda, highlighting the opportunity to harness clean energy, expand green spaces, deliver lowcarbon infrastructure, and embed sustainable transport as foundations for a stronger, healthier, and more liveable Corridor.
