Our Focus
Housing
The South East Corridor is one of Perth’s fastest-growing regions, powered by enhanced rail connectivity and a growing demand for vibrant, well-located communities.
As more people choose to live, work and thrive here, all SECCA member councils are experiencing shared momentum — creating a significant opportunity for developers to deliver smart, sustainable and diverse housing options.
With the Cities of Armadale, Canning, Gosnells and the Town of Victoria Park poised for substantial growth over the next decade, SECCA is focused on accelerating density housing development around key METRONET transport hubs.
Our goal is to work with industry and government to identify what’s needed, remove barriers, and define the practical steps required to bring this next chapter of corridor growth to life.
Unlocking the future of Perth's growth along the newly opened, enhanced trainline.
Cleaning up the Canning (CutC)
This project will provide an improved understanding of the Canning, Southern, and Wungong rivers to implement up to 17 effective, long-term interventions focusing on water quality improvement, sediment reduction and removal, revegetation, capacity building and improved biosecurity through weed control. Engagement with Traditional Owners will ensure knowledge is incorporated in the consideration and delivery of prioritised project actions.
Energy Transition
In collaboration with Western Power, Synergy, and Business Foundations, SECCA is supporting businesses to better understand lower emissions and navigate the energy transition.
From 1 January 2025, large companies in Australia are required to report climate-related risks and emissions, including Scope 3 emissions (from supply chains) by 2026. Energy use — especially in manufacturing and transport — is often the biggest emissions source and hardest to address. This energy transition initiative helps businesses explore how to reduce emissions through smarter energy use, invest in alternative sources like solar and batteries, and participate in future Virtual Power Plant participation.
